The Sampler began as a store in Excelsior, Minnesota and later moved to nearby suburb of Chanhassen.  It was owned for 28 years by Karol Plocher, who closed the physical store in 2010 though she continued the online business at www.the-sampler.com and her quilt show presence at the Wisconsin Quilt Expo in Madison, International Quilt Festival in Houston, American Quilter's Society Paducah & Des Moines shows, and many others. Quilters have long recognized "The Sampler" as their source for all things Kaffe Fassett -- including those hard-to-find woven stripes and shot cottons. 

On January 16, 2013, Karol sold her business to her long-time pattern designer and supplier, Lori Allison.  Lori continues the tradition of providing all things Kaffe Collective including books, fabrics, ribbons, kits of both quilts from the Kaffe & Liza books as well as original Allison Quilt Designs patterns.   You may continue to find a full line of books, fabrics, patterns and kits at www.the-sampler.com and at major quilt shows around the country.
